I finally ruined a mix trying to use that new sidechain plugin everyone loves

Last Tuesday I was working on a track for the D11-04 follow up and decided to try that Kickstart 2 plugin everyone in the El Salvador scene keeps hyping. Set it up on my bass line, hit play, and the whole thing just sounded like a washing machine. Took me like 2 hours to undo the automation I messed up. Honestly, I think the old school way of just sidechaining off the kick drum in Ableton works better for my style. Has anyone else had a plugin just wreck their workflow like that?

Man that's exactly how it goes with these overnight plugins, feels like every time a new trick comes out it just reminds me that the old boring way usually works fine haha. Classic case of the internet making us overthink stuff that wasn't broken.

See I kinda disagree on this one, some of those plugins actually save me hours of clicking around menus once you get past the learning curve. The old way works fine but it's not always the most efficient if you're doing the same repetitive task fifty times a week. Not every new tool is a gimmick, some of them genuinely solve problems the boring method just accepts as normal.
