Just realized the guy who sold me my first controller in San Salvador was right about counting bars
He said count 32 bars out loud before you touch a fader, and I laughed it off for 2 years while my mixes kept clipping. Last week I finally tried it on a 128bpm edit and the whole thing sat clean without a single limiter. Anyone else have an old head hand them a rule that sounded dumb at the time?
Man, I spent years thinking I was too cool to count out loud, and my mixes paid the price for it. I used to just eyeball the waveform and pray, which worked about as well as you'd expect. That old dude in San Salvador knew what he was talking about, and honestly it took me way too long to admit the boring stuff actually works.
