My DJ rig crashed mid-set at a club in San Salvador on Saturday

The laptop froze during the drop of my own track and I had to restart everything while the crowd just stood there. Should I have had a backup USB loaded on the CDJs or is that overkill for a one-hour set?

wait, isn't having a backup USB just common sense these days lol? like CDJs literally have USB ports for a reason, and one crash is all it takes to learn that the hard way.

Wait, did your laptop actually blue screen mid-drop or was it just a DJ software freeze? I remember back in my early days I was spinning at this tiny bar in Austin and my laptop straight up died because the power strip got kicked out by some drunk dude. The silence was deafening, and I had to scramble for my phone to play a playlist while I rebooted. Honestly though, a backup USB on the CDJs is not overkill for a one hour set because one crash is all it takes to learn that lesson the hard way. Portable drives are cheap and they save you from that awkward standing around feeling, trust me.
