Spent $300 on a used MIDI controller and it completely changed my workflow
I got a Novation Launchkey 49 off Facebook Marketplace for $300 last month. My old keyboard was some cheap 25 key thing that barely worked. Hooked it up to Ableton and instantly could play chords and bass lines way faster. Still tweaking some drum pads but it's saving me hours on beat making. Anyone else find a good deal on gear that actually helped?

Well, you probably overpaid a bit. Those Launchkey 49s go for around $200-250 used on a good day. But if it's saving you hours and works fine, then $300 is just the price of getting your workflow sorted faster.

Ah man, come on... it's just a MIDI controller at the end of the day. I mean, yeah, maybe he could've saved fifty bucks if he spent three weeks refreshing Craigslist and driving across town to meet some stranger in a parking lot. But is it really worth all that headache for such a small difference? People act like missing out on a deal is some kind of personal failure. It's gear, it's supposed to be making music, not making you stressed about the price tag.
