Went back to an old mix of mine from 2020 and heard something totally different today

I pulled up a track from my earlier demos last night and the clap sounded totally flat compared to my current stuff, I guess my ear for layering got way better over 4 years of daily producing. Has anyone else gone back to old projects and cringed at the arrangement or was it just me?

oh man, i feel you so hard on this lol. i pulled up a beat i made in 2019 and the snare was literally just a stock 808 one with no processing at all, i was like "what was i thinking??" the whole arrangement had this weird empty space in the verses too, like i was afraid to fill out the stereo field back then. it's wild how much your ear changes when you're tweaking stuff every single day, even the little things like compression feel way more natural now. definitely not just you, that cringe is basically a badge of growth haha.
