Appreciation post: My grandpa's old measuring tape is still more accurate than my new digital one

I checked my laser measure against his 1950s Stanley tape last week and it was off by 3/8ths over 12 feet, which just blew my mind that the old stuff held up that well... has anyone else noticed newer tools being less reliable or did I just get a dud?

Bet on the old stuff any day. New tools just feel cheaper lately.
