Hit 50 drywall screws in a row without a single pop or dimple yesterday
I was finishing up a patch job in my laundry room and counted them as I went just to stay focused. When I hit 50 perfect screws I actually stopped and stared at the wall for a second. Has anyone else had a random milestone like this that made you question all your past work?

idk man i just dont see how 50 screws in a row is some kind of achievement. like half the time if youre not hitting a stud or something the screw is gonna pull through anyway. maybe its just me but i feel like you could have counted wrong or some of them are actually dimpled and you just didnt notice in the bad lighting of a laundry room. plus drywall is soft so perfect screws are more about the gun settings than any special skill. not trying to rain on your parade but i think you might be overthinking this.

Ha @sarahh48, you're kinda right about the gun settings doing a lot of the work, but dimples are pretty obvious even in bad light - they leave a clear ring. Also, missing a stud doesn't make the screw pull through, it just means you need anchors.

Is it just me or does anyone else's drywall projects look like a battlefield of mismatched screws and shallow dimples? I swear, every time I try to do a "perfect" row, I end up with one that's either too deep or barely breaking the surface, no matter how much I fiddle with the gun settings. My husband just rolls his eyes and hands me the spackle, so I guess dimples and missing studs are just part of my DIY charm by now. You're spot on about anchors though, I learned that the hard way after a shelf fell down twice.
