Made the call to go with laminate over real hardwood for the basement
I spent like 3 weekends going back and forth on this. Real hardwood was gonna run me about $4 a square foot more and honestly, I kept thinking about moisture down there. Went with a mid range laminate that looks pretty decent and after a year, it still looks perfect even after my kid spilled a whole drink on it. Has anyone else just given up on real wood in basements?

30 bucks for a whole washing machine hose? I paid like 8 bucks for a braided steel one and it's been fine for years now... @aaron896 that flood story is exactly why I went with a waterproof laminate from Mannington. It's got this click lock system that seals at the edges too.

Basements and water don't mix, that's for sure. We put carpet in ours first and after one minor flood from a washing machine hose, it was trash. Laminate's a good call for the peace of mind alone, you don't wanna be stressing over every little spill.
