My neighbor saw me trying to level a shelf with a stack of coasters
He walked over, handed me a single 2-inch wood shim from his garage, and said, 'You're making this way harder than it needs to be.' I'd spent twenty minutes trying to get it perfect with junk I had lying around. What's your go-to trick for a quick, level fix?

Shims are the answer to half of life's problems. Keep a handful of the plastic ones from the hardware store in your junk drawer.

Remember those little felt pads you stick on chair legs? I used a whole pack of them under my washing machine once. It was hopping across the laundry room floor. Stuck them on the corners until it finally shut up. Worked for a solid year before one fell off.

That's some next-level home repair hack right there. Honestly, a washing machine doing the cha-cha across the floor is a whole mood. Bet you felt like a genius when it actually worked for a year. Just picturing it slowly losing a felt shoe and starting to tap dance again is hilarious.
