My 'simple' deck stain job turned into a 3-day fight with the wood grain

Last month, I spent $120 on a fancy semi-transparent stain for my pressure-treated pine deck, but after the first coat dried patchy, I had to sand half of it back down and apply a second coat with a brush instead of a roller, which finally worked but added a whole extra weekend to the project. Anyone have a better method for staining fresh pressure-treated lumber without this headache?

Sounds like the deck was fighting back. At least you won the war, even if it took an extra weekend.

Winning the war doesn't feel like much when you lose every single battle along the way.

Yeah, back-brushing the first coat made a huge difference for me.
