Neighbor Larry set me straight on deck screws after 3 failed boards
My neighbor Larry saw me using cheap coated screws on my deck rebuild last month and told me to switch to stainless steel. He said the coating flakes off after 2 winters in this humidity and you get rust streaks. Had to pull up 3 boards yesterday where the heads already snapped off. Anyone else learn the hard way that saving 20 bucks on fasteners costs you later?

Buddy of mine built a shed with drywall screws and half the roof was flapping in a storm within six months. Larry sounds like the kind of neighbor who's already made every mistake so you don't have to.

Heard a guy on YouTube saying the same thing. Deck screws are cheap and they actually hold up way longer than drywall ones. Saves you a headache down the road for sure.
