Pro tip: I used to just use a regular hammer to drive 3 inch deck screws until I bent three of them last summer.

Now I always use an impact driver for any screw over 2 inches, which my contractor neighbor finally told me after watching me struggle for an hour, so what other basic tool swaps have saved you guys time?

Impact drivers are overkill for most screws.

Set the clutch on your drill lower and test on scrap first. @the_drew may disagree but it works.
