PSA: Cheap drop cloths nearly ruined my hardwood floors in Portland
I was painting my hallway last month in my 1920s house in Portland. Bought those thin plastic drop cloths from the big box store. Spilled a quart of paint and it soaked right through onto my original fir floors. Took me 3 hours with a scraper and mineral spirits to get it off. Then I noticed the plastic trapped moisture underneath and started staining the wood. Total nightmare. Now I only use 6-mil canvas drop cloths or rosin paper. Costs more upfront but saves your floors. Anyone else have bad luck with cheap plastic sheeting?

Did you hear that waxed canvas works better for old wood floors?

@the_jenny I've tried waxed canvas on wood floors and it just didn't hold up for me...
