PSA: My 15-year-old miter saw taught me something last weekend

I was helping my neighbor replace some deck boards when his fancy new miter saw kept binding up on the cuts. He said it must be the blade. I brought over my old 15-year-old Craftsman from the garage, same blade, and it cut through like butter. The difference was that I still take the time to wax the fence and check the bevel angle before every cut. Has anyone else noticed that older tools still hold up better than new ones if you know how to maintain them?

Wait, waxing the fence wouldn't stop the blade from binding up.
