Remember when we had to mix joint compound by hand for drywall?

Back in 2008, I was helping my dad patch a ceiling and we spent 15 minutes just stirring a bucket with a paint stick. My arm would be sore the next day. Now I use a cheap corded drill with a mixing paddle from the hardware store, and it's done in 60 seconds flat. The change happened for me around 2015 when I got tired of the prep work taking longer than the actual mudding. It just makes the whole job start faster. Has anyone else found a simple tool that saved them a ton of time on a basic task?
