Spent $120 on a cheap tile saw and the blade burned out in one bathroom

Picked up one of those budget tile saws from the big box store last month, figured it would handle a small bathroom reno fine. By the time I finished the second row of 12x24 porcelain, the motor was smoking and the blade was toast. Turns out the cheap ones can't handle the constant water feed without seizing up, so I had to rent a real wet saw from the rental place for $65 a day. Total loss was $120 for the saw plus a day of driving back and forth. Anyone else tried to save cash on a tile saw and ended up paying double in the end? I'm curious if the mid-range ones are actually worth it or if renting is always the smarter move.
