That moment my router bit exploded because I was pushing too fast through some oak
I was shaping a shelf edge for my kitchen remodel last weekend and got impatient, rammed the wood through and it shattered the bit sending plastic shards into my arm, so now I slow way down and take lighter passes.

Oh man that sounds rough. Glad you're okay though - those router bits can be nasty when they let go.

shanel13 nailed it, router bits exploding is no joke. Same thing happened to me a few months back when I was hogging off too much material on some maple. I was using a cheap bit I got off Amazon and it just disintegrated mid cut. Pieces flew everywhere and one got me right above the eyebrow. Learned my lesson the hard way just like you, now I take my time and do multiple shallow passes. Oak is tough stuff so you gotta respect it or it'll bite back.
