That time I tried to fix a squeaky floor and found a hidden door
So last Tuesday I was finally dealing with a noisy spot in my living room floor. I pulled up a corner of the carpet, expecting to just tighten a subfloor screw or two. Instead, I found a weird seam in the plywood that didn't match the joists. I got my pry bar and gave it a gentle nudge... and a whole three-foot section lifted up like a lid. Underneath was this little cubby space, totally empty except for some old newspaper from 1978. My mind was racing about secret stashes, but it was just a forgotten access panel to some old plumbing they sealed up. Still, finding a hidden door in your own house is pretty wild. Has anyone else uncovered something unexpected under their floors?
