The day I learned I had been hanging wallpaper wrong for 15 years

I was helping my daughter with her bathroom last month in Des Moines, and she watched me measure and paste a strip. She asked why I was overlapping the seams so much. Turns out I had been reading the instructions backward on the backing paper and creating massive overlaps that always bubbled. She showed me the correct edge alignment and it all clicked. Has anyone else had a home project embarrassment where you figured out you missed a basic step?

Did you have to steam the old mistakes off the wall?

Honestly @elizabeth_king, I used to think steaming was overkill but after messing up a wall myself I totally get it now. That stuff really does save you from having to sand everything down again lol.
