Caught myself tiling the wrong way for 15 years
I was redoing my bathroom floor last month and my buddy who's a contractor stopped by. He watched me lay out the tiles and said I was starting from the wrong wall, should've found center first. I've been doing it the same way since my first house in 2012 and never once questioned it. Anyone else have one of those moments where you realized you've been doing a basic thing totally backwards?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me a few years back with laying tile in my kitchen. My dad came over, saw me starting from the corner like I always did, and he just shook his head. He showed me how to snap chalk lines from the center and it made a huge difference. In my experience, the tiles line up way better and you don't end up with those tiny slivers of cut tile against the far wall. I had been doing it wrong for over a decade without even knowing it. Your buddy probably just wanted to help, even if it stung a little at first.
