Caulk gun upgrade saved my trim job, spend the $40

I got tired of fighting cheap caulk guns on every baseboard and door frame. Two rooms of squirting, uneven beads, and wasted tube after tube. Finally caved and bought a dripless ratchet style gun for like $38 at the local hardware store. Night and day difference, I finished my living room trim in one afternoon with zero mess. My finger still hurts from the old squeeze trigger, that thing was brutal. If you are doing any molding or kitchen backsplash, do yourself a favor and skip the $5 special. Anyone else here made the switch or got a trick for smoothing beads without smearing everything?
