Finally chose between a $400 tile saw rental and buying a cheap one for my bathroom floor

Went with the rental for a weekend, and the clean cuts on the porcelain were worth every penny of the $75. Anyone have a go-to trick for keeping those small mosaic sheets lined up straight?

Smart move on the rental. Try snapping a chalk line right over the sheets.

Read something online about using a rubber mallet to gently tap the sheets into place after you set them. Helps them settle evenly without messing up the spacing. Also, that trick with the chalk line is solid, I've seen pros use it with a level to double check. The rental was definitely the smarter play, cheap saws can give you wavy edges that make mosaic alignment a nightmare.

Yeah, chalk lines are a lifesaver. @paulhernandez is right on that. I once tried using a laser level for a small backsplash and spent more time fiddling with the battery than actually laying tile. Sometimes the old school way is just faster.
