So I was checking something in our upstairs hallway with a 6 foot level from my dad, and it showed dead flat. But then I pulled out a laser level I borrowed from a buddy in Austin and ran it across the room. Turns out the floor slopes a solid inch from one end to the other, just over maybe 12 feet. Apparently the house settled years ago and someone hid it with furniture and a thick rug. Has anyone else trusted a bubble level over a laser and gotten burned like this?
A bubble level only checks the spot it's sitting on, so yeah, it can look dead flat while the whole room is tilted. An inch over 12 feet is a lot when you actually walk it, you'd feel like you're on a ship. Someone stuffing furniture and a thick rug over that is impressive in a sneaky way though. Did your buddy's laser also tell you if the slope runs toward the hall or the bedrooms?
