Framing nailer jam turned into a 3 hour kitchen floor rescue in Cleveland
Splitting a joist with a misfire at 9am on Saturday forced me to rip up the subfloor in my 1930s kitchen, and after finding a hidden pipe leak under the old planks, I patched it, re-leveled the joist with shims, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with finding unexpected plumbing mid-demolition without losing their whole weekend?

That leak probably saved you from a much worse headache later, honestly. Once you find one hidden issue in a house that old, it's worth checking everything else in that area before you button it back up.
