I just hit 1000 square feet of drywall I've hung myself

I was adding up the rooms I've done in my house over the last five years, and the total came to just over a thousand square feet. It surprised me because I started with one small bathroom patch and just kept going. Has anyone else been shocked by the scale of a project they did bit by bit?

Yeah, I read a blog post once where a guy tracked his DIY hours and was shocked he'd spent over 200 hours just painting his whole house. It really adds up when you do it in small chunks on weekends. That's a huge amount of drywall, I bet your arms were sore after all that lifting.

My uncle always said painting was quick until he timed himself last spring. He spent 80 hours on just three rooms, which totally changed my view like your story, @rowan_butler93. Those weekend chunks really do disappear.

Man, 80 hours on three rooms is wild but totally believable once you start tracking. @young.drew, your uncle probably thought he was knocking it out quick but those little weekend sessions add up way faster than you realize. Ever figure out your own hourly rate after that?
