I used to drywall with a 6 inch taping knife and it drove me crazy

For years I did all my drywall mudding with a 6 inch knife. It took forever and left these ridges I had to sand down. About 6 months ago I finally bought a 12 inch knife and a mud pan. Now I do a whole room in like half the time and the finish is way smoother. I don't know why I stuck with the small knife for so long. Has anyone else made a simple tool swap that saved them hours on a job?

My buddy Jake was the same way with a dull utility knife. He'd score drywall like 4 times then snap it. Edges always tore. I loaned him my carbide blade one time. He bought his own the next day. Now he cuts like butter with just one pass. Simple swap, saved him so much frustration.

Man that 6 inch knife struggle is real... I remember doing a whole basement with one and my wrist was killing me for days. The ridges were the worst part, having to sand those down after every coat just added so much time. Getting a wider knife really does change everything, makes you wonder why we fight through the frustration for so long. It's funny how the simplest little tool change can make you slap your forehead wondering why you didn't do it years ago.
