Stop fighting your drywall seams, use the mesh tape trick
I spent my whole Saturday redoing a patch job in my hallway because I used paper tape and it bubbled up in two spots no matter how careful I was with the mud. My buddy who does drywall for a living came over and basically laughed, then showed me how he uses the fiberglass mesh tape for seams that arent perfect. The mesh sticks flat with no pre-coat and you just lay your first layer over it, zero bubbles even on my wobbly hand-sanded mess. It cost me an extra $4 at Home Depot for a roll and it saved me like 3 hours of sanding and re-mudding. I originally thought paper was better because my grandpa swore by it, but now I see the mesh just forgives way more. Anyone else have luck switching from paper to mesh or am I late to this party?

Mesh saved my ass on a crooked ceiling patch, never going back.
