That week I tried skim coating my living room ceiling solo
I spent 5 straight evenings after my mail route up on a ladder with a 12 inch taping knife, and by Thursday my neck was so wrecked I could barely look left to check for traffic. Has anyone else tackled a whole ceiling alone and found a way to not feel like a pretzel the next day?

Yeah, "wrong technique" is right. I think my technique was basically "hold knife at weird angle and pray." My neck was so locked up by day three I had to drive my mail truck with my head tilted like a confused golden retriever just to see the road signs. I tried switching to a smaller knife but then I was just making tiny lines all over the place and had to skim over them again the next night. Probably should have just hired a drywall finisher but where's the fun in that, right? Now I'm just glad I don't have to look up at that ceiling for a while.
