The light in my kitchen is totally different after painting the ceiling flat white
I never realized how much a semigloss ceiling was bouncing weird yellow light around until I switched to flat white last weekend (cost me like $30 in paint). Now the room feels bigger and the cabinets actually look their true color. Has anyone else tried changing just the ceiling finish instead of buying new fixtures?

...and honestly are people really that bothered by their ceiling? I mean I get that the paint job looks cleaner or whatever but it's a ceiling. It's the thing above your head that you barely look at. If my cabinets looked slightly off before I'd probably just assume it was the cheap bulbs from Home Depot not the ceiling paint.
Flat white ceilings have been around forever though so it's not like you discovered some hidden secret. My parents had flat white in their 80s house and it was just normal. The semigloss thing was a trend for a while but now everyone's going back to flat because it hides imperfections better. I just don't see how changing a $30 can of paint is gonna fix bad lighting unless you were living in a disco ball before.

Wait, 80s? @mason_lee, did you just say you were alive in the 80s?
