Tried wet sanding drywall instead of dry sanding on my last patch job

Used a damp sponge on the mud after watching a youtube video from some guy in Ohio and it cut my cleanup time in half with barely any dust floating around, has anyone else tried this method on larger walls or does it just gum up the sponge too fast?

My buddy tried this on his basement and gummed up three sponges before giving up.

That's TOUGH man, I feel for your buddy. Three sponges is a lot of wasted effort and money, I've been there myself with project gone wrong. Sometimes those basement jobs just don't cooperate no matter how much you want them to. The humidity down there can really mess up the adhesion and make everything a sticky mess. He's probably feeling pretty frustrated right now, and that sucks because nobody likes giving up on something they started. Hope he finds an easier way to tackle it next time.
