Vent: my basement subfloor looked great for 2 weeks, then the smell hit
After I laid 400 sq ft of laminate over a concrete slab in my Chicago place, the musty odor showed up by day 15 because I skipped the vapor barrier, so has anyone else had to rip up a floor they just finished to fix moisture?

15 days is rough but I'd check for a plumbing leak before blaming the slab, since a vapor barrier won't stop actual water coming in. Chicago basements get hydrostatic pressure after heavy rain, and no plastic sheet fixes a crack that's pushing water up.
