Caught myself saying fake news like a tic, felt stupid

Last week I was arguing with my brother about the debate and I said the polls were fake news. He laughed and said I sounded like a parrot. I stopped and realized I had been repeating that phrase for months without actually checking any numbers. I looked up the real polling averages after that and my whole argument fell apart. Has anyone else caught themselves parroting a talking point and then had to walk it back?
