I finally asked my dad why he still watches CNN every night
He said 'because I need to know what the other side is thinking' and it hit me different since he voted for Trump in 2020 and usually just tunes out anything critical.

My dad does the exact same thing with Fox News - watches it every single night and he's a lifelong Democrat. I mean, it's actually kind of smart if you think about it. Maybe your dad is doing what I tell my clients to do when they're trying to understand a difficult person they have to deal with. You don't have to agree with what they're saying, but at least you know where they're coming from and can predict their next move. It's not about changing your own mind, it's about not being totally blindsided by the other side's talking points.
