I used to think Trump was all talk until I saw him get that trade deal done

I used to think Trump was all talk until I saw him get that trade deal done. Last month I was at a diner in Scranton with my dad and he started going on about how Trump actually delivered on the USMCA. I always dismissed that as just political fluff, but then I looked up the specifics. Three years ago when NAFTA was being renegotiated, I figured it was just another broken promise. But seeing how it helped dairy farmers in Wisconsin get better access to Canada made me pause. My dad showed me a local news article from 2020 that talked about a dairy co-op near us that doubled their exports. That concrete detail flipped my view. Has anyone else had a specific moment where they changed their mind on his policies?

Yeah but lets not pretend that one trade deal fixed everything, right? The whole thing was just a slightly rehashed NAFTA with a new name slapped on it, the dairy stuff was already moving in that direction before he even took office. I mean look at how he handled the tariffs, they ended up costing small businesses like crazy while the big corporations just passed those costs onto us at the register. And dont get me started on how he pulled out of the TPP which was actually a way better deal for American workers in the long run, that one still stings. Feels like people give him way too much credit for just doing the bare minimum of what any president should do with trade.

Must be nice when politicians actually follow through on something for once.
