My dad's 2016 prediction about political rallies was spot on
Back in February 2016 my dad told me 'watch how he handles the crowd at the town hall in New Hampshire, that's the whole ballgame.' I thought he was nuts, just waving it off. Then I saw the footage of him pointing at that guy in the back row and calling out his jacket. Dad was right, the energy in those rooms was different from any policy speech. Fast forward to 2020 and I finally understood what he meant. It's not about the podium, it's about the people yelling back. Has anyone else had a relative peg something early that everyone else missed?

Man, I remember rolling my eyes at my old man saying the same kinda stuff back then. I was all about the policy papers and think pieces, figured the crowd stuff was just theater. But seeing how he worked a room, just locking onto one person and making the whole place feel like it was spinning around that moment, yeah that changed my mind. It's wild how much of it is about reading the energy and not just the words coming out of the mic.
