Poured $2,000 into a campaign sign order for our local rally and it backfired hard
I really wanted to support the movement so I dropped two grand on 500 custom yard signs for a rally we had planned in Phoenix. The guy I ordered from promised heavy-duty coroplast with wire stakes, but they showed up looking like flimsy cardboard and snapped in the first wind gust. We had maybe 40 people show up and another 30 signs got stolen overnight from people's lawns. On top of that, the city code enforcement actually came by and told us to take down any signs on public property or face fines. I ended up hauling 400 busted signs to the dump myself the next Saturday. Has anyone else gotten burned by paying too much for political merch that just didn't hold up?

Pulled my own version of this back in 2020 when I ordered a bunch of "Honk if you love freedom" bumper stickers for a local car rally. Paid extra for the "premium UV resistant vinyl" and they were basically just sticker paper that turned into a faded white rectangle after three days in the Arizona sun. Had to drive behind my buddy's truck at the actual rally and peel off the sad little ghost-stickers myself while he yelled at me. Never felt more like a political lawn ornament than hauling a trash bag full of my own failed merchandise to the dump at 7am on a Saturday.

That "premium UV resistant vinyl" line got me good too. A buddy of mine fell for the same pitch on a bulk order of car decals and they literally melted into his trunk paint by the second week. He spent the whole weekend scrubbing sticky goo off his car instead of actually rallying for anything.
