Shoutout to the security guard at the Phoenix rally who made me dump my water bottle
I was standing in line for 2 hours under the sun at the Phoenix rally last March and a security guard made me toss a full $4 bottle of water before entry. He said no outside liquids allowed but the vendors inside were charging $6 for the same size. Has anyone else had a similar experience with event rules that don't seem to make sense?

I just hid a smaller bottle in my jacket pocket and it worked fine for me.

Man, "worked fine for me" is exactly what my buddy Dave said before he got tackled by security at a Pearl Jam concert back in '03. He thought he was slick with a flask in his boot, but that thing clanked against the metal detector and it was game over. I swear, every time someone says that phrase, I'm back in that parking lot watching him get walked out by two guys who looked like they bench-pressed tour buses. So yeah, smaller bottle in a jacket pocket isn't the worst idea, but just make sure it's not metal or anything dumb like that. Trust me, Dave learned the hard way.
