Honestly, I used to draw every single bolt and screw in my assembly drawings. A senior drafter at a job in Tacoma told me 'You're not getting paid by the line' and it clicked.

Ever read that old book "The Elements of Style"? It talks about omitting needless words. That's basically the same idea, right? I try to remember that when I'm writing anything now. Like, you don't need to describe every single leaf on the tree if you're just trying to show someone the forest. That drafter's advice is perfect for drawing and for writing. Just give people what they need to know to get the picture.

My buddy's novel got way better after he cut half the adjectives.
