Just realized my block spacing on my CAD drawings is way off after a contractor called me out
I've been using the same 1/4 inch block grid for all my site plans for like 2 years, and last week a contractor said my dimensions were off by a foot on the south side. He pulled out a tape measure on site and showed me the blocks don't line up with the property lines because our base map has a slight curve. Anyone else run into issues with their block patterns not matching real-world layouts?

Have you tried using a surveyor's file as your base map instead of a tiled image? That's what fixed it for me when I found my blocks were drifting about six inches over a 200 foot run. I had to switch to a coordinate system tied to our local state plane grid, and then my blocks actually locked into the real corners. It's a bit of a pain to set up at first, but once it's in the drawing template you never have to worry about it again.

Nothing like a contractor with a tape measure to remind you your CAD skills aren't quite as flawless as you thought.
