Just realized paper sketches save me from CAD rework. I was all digital before. How do you kick off a new drawing?

In 2020, I thought paper sketches were just extra steps. After wasting hours on CAD rework, I tried a legal pad like hugoj13 mentioned. Now I sketch first every time, so why did I ever skip it?

I always start with thumbnail sketches on a yellow legal pad. Gets the idea down before I ever open a program.

Started by diving right into Photoshop for every project. I thought it was faster, but I kept hitting dead ends. After seeing @hugoj13 talk about legal pad sketches, I gave it a shot. Now I scribble ideas first, and it saves me hours of rework. Last week, I sketched a logo layout in five minutes that would have taken me an hour to figure out on screen. That yellow pad method really clears my head before I even touch the mouse.
