PSA: A simple unit mix-up ruined my whole drawing set

I used inches instead of millimeters and the shop had to scrap the parts. Double-check your settings before sending files out.

NASA lost a $125 million orbiter because of a metric-imperial unit mix-up. I mean, that's how serious this can get, even on a huge scale. I read about it in a tech magazine last month, and it stuck with me. Maybe it's just me, but after hearing that, I double-check my units like crazy. It's so easy to mess up, especially with software defaulting to inches. Your post is a good reminder that it happens to everyone, not just big agencies.

Yeah I see this all the time with regular stuff too, like recipes or furniture assembly. You just assume the numbers are right and then everything's off. Makes you paranoid.

Ugh, that's brutal. I once sent a 3D print file set to centimeters instead of millimeters, and my printer tried to make a phone case the size of a toaster. Totally get what @margaret692 means about getting paranoid, I measure everything three times now.
