PSA: Switched to a laser level for ceiling grid layouts and it saved my back big time

Used to climb up and down a ladder 50 times a day snapping chalk lines for drop ceilings, but after a rough week of 16-foot heights in a school gym last fall I bought one of those Bosch cross-line lasers. Any other drafters here made the switch and found it speeds up your layout for big commercial jobs?

Laughing at the mental image of you climbing up and down a ladder 50 times a day like some kind of human yo-yo, but glad your back survived to tell the tale. I made the same switch after a job in a warehouse with 20-foot ceilings and honestly, my knees are still thanking me even if my wallet isn't. The laser is way more accurate too, less guessing if the chalk line actually snapped straight or just kinda sorta looked straight from the ground. Just don't lose the tripod adapter, trust me, you'll be back to climbing ladders in no time.

Hang on, you actually worked with 20-foot ceilings? That's a whole other level of crazy. I thought I had it bad with 12-foot ones, but I can't even imagine trying to snap a chalk line up there, let alone climb down and back up fifty times. My knees ache just thinking about it.
