Shoutout to my coworker for making me rethink layer visibility settings

I had a debate with my coworker Dave last Thursday about whether to keep all your layers visible while drafting or hide the ones you're not using. He says hiding them cuts down on clutter and mistakes, but I always thought seeing everything helps you catch conflicts early. He showed me a drawing where hidden lines from a hidden layer caused a pipe to run right through a beam and I had to admit he had a point. Which way do you guys lean on this?

Oh come on. It's just layer settings, not a career crisis.

Used to be on your side completely. Liked seeing everything laid out. It felt safer, more control. But a similar thing happened with my own work. Had a duct layout conflict because a hidden layer hid a support beam. Total redesign needed after. That changed my mind fast. So yeah I lean more toward Dave's way now. Probably have to admit he was onto something.
