Walked into a job site in Cleveland and saw a drafter using a 3D scanner on an old warehouse

I always thought laser scanning was overkill for renovation work but watching that guy map out the whole floor plan in 20 minutes convinced me I need to learn the software, has anyone else tried using a scanner for retrofits?

Those old warehouses in Cleveland usually have bad floor sag, and a plain tape measure won't catch that. A 3D scanner picks up every bow and tilt so your new drawings match reality instead of guessing. Spent a week fixing someone's drawings last year because they didn't account for a six-inch slope in the middle of a floor.

Wait, aren't most 3D scanners just using tape measures with lasers on them?
