Found a hidden crack in my pump housing after a routine oil change

Tbh I was just swapping the oil on my Ellicott 270 last Tuesday and spotted a hairline fracture near the discharge port. Replacing that housing cost me $600 but saved me from a total blowout mid-job. Anyone else check their housings during oil changes or am I just paranoid?

Pretty sure the Ellicott 270 takes an SAE 30, not a 10W-30 for that pump.

Is the manual calling for conventional 30 weight or a specific viscosity grade?
