Grabbing a log at the mouth in Port Arthur changed my whole approach
Last spring I was running a small cutterhead through the Sabine channels and snagged a pine log right at the intake. We lost almost 6 hours clearing it and re-seating the bearings. Now I do a quick sonar sweep upstream every morning before I start, has anyone else added that to their routine?
Wow, six hours gone just like that? I can't even wrap my head around losing a whole work day to one log stuck in the intake. That sounds like a total nightmare, especially with the bearings getting messed up on top of it. A sonar sweep every morning seems like a small price to pay after going through that mess. I would probably do the same thing if I had that kind of scare. It is wild how one random log can throw off your whole setup like that.
