Hydraulic arm vs cable on my dragline, picked hydraulic after a jam in Puget Sound
Had a cable snap mid-swing last October near Tacoma, took 4 hours to rerig. Switched to hydraulic arms on the same rig, smoother control in tight spots and less line wear. Anyone else run hydraulic on older hulls, or stick with cable for the simpler rebuild?

That 4 hour rerig sounds brutal, I feel for you dealing with that in the cold water up there. Hydraulic arms make total sense when you're working tight against structures and don't want to lose a whole shift to a snap. It's good to hear it's holding up on an older hull, sounds like a smart move that paid off.
