Spent three hours on a clogged cutter head that turned out to be a single rock
We were pulling up silt on the Missouri River last week and the whole thing just seized up, no warning. I tore down the pump, checked the lines, the whole deal, before my deckhand spotted a smooth, fist-sized river rock perfectly jammed in the head. What's the weirdest thing you've ever pulled up that caused a major shutdown?

Three hours for one rock is brutal, lol. That smooth shape is exactly what let it sneak in and lock up tight. Can't even be mad at a jagged one, but a perfect little river stone? That's just insulting. The universe really picks its moments to mess with you.

That smooth rock must have been the perfect shape to get stuck.

Totally, it's the worst kind of luck. That thing probably tumbled for miles and then found the one exact spot to wedge itself. Makes you wonder about all the random stuff that gets perfectly stuck out there. Nature has a weird way of doing that sometimes. Just a total fluke of shape and pressure.
