Still think high pressure is better after that pump failure last Tuesday

Old timer named Ray at the yard told me running over 2800 PSI on a 10 inch cutter would blow the seals. I figured he was just stuck in his ways. Sure enough, pump went out halfway through the shift on the Mississippi job. Cost us 6 hours and a rental fee. Anyone else find lower pressure keeps things running longer?

Ray was right, lower PSI saves the seals every time.

Watched a buddy of mine ignore that advice for years on his old truck. Kept running 40+ PSI because he thought it felt more stable on the highway. Seals went out twice before he finally listened to @milar46 and dropped it down to 30. Hasn't had a leak since. Sometimes the simple fix really is the right one, even if it feels wrong at first.
