That 14 hour shift in the San Joaquin changed my mind on night work
Used to hate running the cutter head after dark, thought visibility was everything. Then last month we had a deadline near Stockton and I pulled a 14 hour stretch clearing a clogged channel. With the work lights and GPS readout, I actually hit cleaner lines than I do during the day, no glare off the water. Now I ask for the night rotation whenever I can, way less barge traffic to fight. Anyone else prefer running after sunset, or am I just weird?
